Burt’s Beauty Review – Tinted Lip Balm

8 Nov

When it comes to lips, I am picky. I have high expectations in terms of quality, yet low tolerance for sticky textures, fragmented pigment or glossy finishes. Although I am not generally concerned with staying power, I want a product that distributes evenly and requires minimal touch-ups.

Luckily, Burts Bee’s Tinted Lip Balms have met my demands. They are ideal for a subtle office-look, leaving a naturally lightweight flush without melting off your lips after a few sips of coffee. I have the balm in Red Dahlia, a deeper burgundy-red, which can be worn all year round. The conditioning factor is unbelievable! There is no need to apply multiple layers since extreme colour is not the main goal of this product. Instead, this balm moisturizes effectively while leaving a soft, sweet flavour on your lips. Delicious!!

My favourite thing about this product – and most lip balms in general – is that there is no need to apply lip liner beforehand. This is especially convenient since your look naturally transitions with your makeup as it adjusts to light throughout the day, rather than struggling to maintain a polished look from dawn until dusk. My lips, in particular, have a naturally dark undertone, often finishing with a deepened effect of the colour displayed on the package. Again, this is perfect if you are trying to achieve a naturally conditioned lip with just a tint of colour.

The packaging is a little deceiving. It seems like you’re getting a super size quantity, only to realize that the actual size of the stick is 1/3 of the exterior tube. The ingredients also claim to be 100% Natural, yet there has been recent controversy surrounding the Burt’s line of products. You may want to test the product to ensure it’s safe before applying to your own lips. Staying power is mediocre, like any balm, and the colour selection tends to be on the neutral side – but I guess that’s the whole point of going for “natural” as opposed to “naked”.

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance look that doesn’t require frequent touch-ups, this is an essential!
